Dear Family,

I received the package that was sent. My companion and I were very happy to receive the M&M's. They are so good! Sister Wall's baptism went great. She is so excited to be a member of the church. The other baptisms are still on track. It was a great weekend. The best talk was the one that said that members need to do the finding for the missionaries so they can do the teaching. I want to challenge you all to find at least one person to tell the missionaries to teach so they are using the Lord's time in inviting others to come unto Christ. Also Nathan and Marvin- something that I have found that keeps my companion and myself from fighting is doing what is called Companionship Inventory. The instructions for how to do this can be found in Preach My Gospel. I have heard form some of the return missionaries that it also keeps married couples from arguing with each other. I am glad that dad has been keeping busy at work. Also I am happy to receive the updates on how the things at home are going. It is just crazy to think I have been out nearly two months already. The snow was not too bad here but I heard that it is not over yet. We are expecting more snow this Wednesday. So how is Max? Has he been going to church? Anything else cool happen lately? Is it over 100 yet? I never thought I would find myself saying this, but I miss the heat!

Love you all and miss you!!

Note from Sister Joyce

Good Morning Parents and friends--just a wee email to share our news--the Great Utah Ogden Mission had 227 conversions in the month of March--this is 23 more than we have ever had before. Can I suggest you email your missionaries and tell them how proud you are--and how great they are--I am!!! What great sons and daughters you have!

My P-Day is Tuesday. I sent you a letter. It should have the address that you can write me at. The care packages I got were waiting for me at the mission home. My new companion is named Elder Kaufman he is really cool. He has taught me more in the past week than I learned the whole three weeks at the MTC. We also have three baptism dates that I was here for. This has been so much fun. The people out here are so nice. There was this one lady that answered the door though and immediately said, "I don't think you will be interested in me and I'm definitely not interested in you!" and slammed the door. It was so funny. I have been laughing about it ever since. My first Sunday I gave two twenty minute talks. I was not happy. I had to write them but then I looked through the talks that you sent with me and found some so thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!! I'm so happy for Nathan. Tell him congrats. Have fun at the wedding.

I’m in the field now. My trainer is Elder Kaufman he is really cool. He is from Canada. Yesterday I taught my first real lesson. That was cool the investigator is already committed to baptism. When I got to the Mission Home where President and Sister Joyce live, I got a flood of letters from the Young Men and Young Women. So I will write them on my P-Day which is Tuesday. I am excited to be out here in the field. We did a ton of tracting on my first day and got several potential investigators. Today we have several lessons planned to teach, so hopefully they will not cancel. I have started to get to the point where I am extremely tired when I get back home, which is cool. This has been the greatest month of my life, through the MTC and here in the field. Also, I got the addresses, so thank you for sending them. Well, about twenty three months to go for me here in the cold. I’m just glad that I have been able to use the winter stuff to keep warm. Dear Elder.com did work and it felt good knowing it was sent that day or the day before.

Mom,

Elder Bienz and I are still getting along fine. So how goes the wedding plans? Any thing cool going on? If you send a package before or after I leave send a Dr Pepper I can't even buy one here. Also send some Peanut Butter M&Ms I want some more. I'm so excited to be going in to the field one day earlier than planned because they made a mistake and to fix it so they had to send the elders going to Ogden a day Earlier. I LOVE YOU!!!

Dad,

I am Learning so much here and am excited to go into the field on Tuesday. we had a 70 here the other day and the first week we had the General Primary President here those were all so cool to have around. But my favorite was M Russell Ballard. I'm trying to get all the extra things I need here because they have a huge missionary discount. If you find anything that I can use I'm glad to know that you will send it to me I Love you.

Hi Mom!!!!!

Here is the address. Already sent your keys but you can still send a package anyway. My companion is named Elder Bienz pronounced Benz. He is cool and my district is awesome we have Elder Dooley, Elder Nielson, Elder Greep, Elder Laughman (Loffman), and Elder Engerbretson they all have already become some of my best friends. I still need my address book so i can write everyone else. I'm so excited to be here it feels like just yesterday I was dropped off but it has been over a week. It was soooo cool M. Russell Ballard spoke at the first devotional that we had Tuesday. I was amazed at how fast the spirit came to the room it felt like conference all over again. He spoke about the Draper temple and how he invited the press to be personally given a tour by him and only a few showed up but the main message was to show enthusiasm as a missionary. I still cant wait to go out into the field but it still scares me Well my thirty minutes on the computer are almost up so...

next e-mail will happen on next Thursday.

SHORT AND SWEET: FIRST LETTER FROM THE MTC

2-11-09

Dear Mom and Family,

I have been here only ten hours and I have learned so much. My senior companion Elder Bienz has turned out to be an ok guy. The other two Elders in my room are pretty cool too. We have already started to do most things that companions are supposed to do.
